It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the action that we do.
- Mother Teresa
These are our goals for the next few years:- Mother Teresa
- Ameliorate the effects of witchcraft, gossip and jealousy which are rife in the village by employing an indigenous Pastor to speak against these practices and to disciple our people into a strong and loving Christian community, by holding regular prayer and bible study groups.
- Hold an evangelistic crusade Sept-August next year. (Already in discussion with David Leslie)
- Buy a mission car for buying supplies, home visiting etc
- Build 4-5 guest houses so we can begin inviting self funded volunteers and tourists as a business to support ourselves. The Voluntourism business is a growing trend giving adventure tourists life changing experiences by helping others.
- Assist our men to be profitably employed by offering co-operative ventures, classes in husbandry, improved farming techniques. Our initial cooperative venture needs more encouragement
- Hold Adult education classes including, literacy, hygiene, English, simple first aid, home care nursing, farming techniques, rubbish disposal.
- Sponsor all our teenagers into Secondary and Tertiary education. Assist our students to take advantage of Zambian government bursaries available for all tertiary training for vulnerable children
- Encourage our women to take the next step towards financial viability by offering them micro-enterprise loans to create their own profitable business to support their families
- Create a new user friendly well that will give us clean water and reticulate it to our homes
- Set up good administration procedures for reporting, record keeping etc
- Increase the size of the solar system so we can use computers and perhaps begin community movie nights
- Provide and encourage good health care for all by building a small clinic and employing an indigenous doctor to attend to simple health needs, including school health checks and public health education (perhaps using the CHE method taught by Joy Dyer)
- Provide free education for all children by increasing the number of classrooms in our school to cater for older children. We will have to build two new teachers homes and find sponsorship for their salaries. Meanwhile assist vulnerable families financially to enable children to attend existing schools.
- Create a model farm for teaching sustainable methods and to provide a variety of food for the villagers. Employ local farmers and teach them how to use chicken manure as fertilizer e.g., and plant a variety of economical crops like cassava, mangoes and other fruit trees
- Build model shops that are attractive and clean and create a meeting place with benches for people to sit on around them
