Durelle is from New Zealand originally, but has lived in Australia, Israel, and Zambia for the last few years. In 2005 Durelle accompanied Dr. Robi Sonderegger to the small Zambian village of Mupitanshi on a missionary visit. Later in 2007 he told her that he was moving on and that she should "go for it". So she moved there for six months, and two more periods of six months since.
I am often lonely and sometimes afraid. I am everyone’s Mama or Grandma which is nice but they all need help, they all want something. I long for a colleague to talk things over with, to pray with. I don’t have a proper policy so I mostly give to whoever asks me. But I feel God is with me and He is my tower of strength. I’m a novelty at every gathering. The conditions are harsh especially for someone my age but I love serving these people for God. I do it with a passion.

Owen was a boy when Durelle first began sponsoring him. Both of his parents died and he lived with his grandmother. He had to walk 6 kilometres to and from school. His grandmother didn’t believe in feeding him breakfast- she had been told that it would dull his mind.
Now as a young man he attends boarding school in Ndola, where he gets three meals a day and has aspirations to become a business man.
